According to his agent, Randers FC attacker Lee Nguyen is set to join Vietnamese outfit Hoàng Anh Gia Lai later this week.
The U.S. international has decided to take a less prestigious soccer road in order to fulfill a personal goal of playing his ancestral nation. An MLS suitor had been in the running, but recently dropped out of the race.
"He should sign in the next 7-10 days," Lyle Yorks told Soccer365 on Friday evening. "We expect to get something done."
Nguyen, who started his pro career at PSV Eindhoven, leaves Randers after one year and 22 appearances. The former Indiana Hoosier was unable to win a starting place, but is now expected to star for his new employers.
The youngster will reportedly sign a handsome three-year deal with HAGL, who finished third in the table last term and have a working relationship with Premiership giants Arsenal. The new V-League season gets underway for Nguyen and his new team in mid-February.
