Alex Morgan will join Lionel Messi on the US cover of EA Sport FIFA 16.  The USWNT forward is a huge fan of Messi and Barcelona.  She joins Christine Sinclair from the Canadian national team and Stephanie Catley of the Australian national team as the first women to appear on the cover.

EA Sports announced in May that 12 women’s national teams would be included on the FIFA 16 game.  Morgan has been one of several players to work in the EA Sports Motion-Capture lab to help make the game as realistic as possible. “As soon as we knew Women’s National Teams were joining FIFA 16, we immediately recognized that Christine and Alex would be the perfect cover athletes based on their accomplishments and what they represent for their respective countries and the sport of women’s soccer,” said David Pekush, Sr. Manager of North America Marketing for EA SPORTS. “They are exhilarating players and exude heart and courage on the pitch, and we are extremely proud to be working with them this year.”

The selection is no doubt a huge honor for the 26-year-old Women’s World Cup and Olympic Gold medal winner.  Morgan is a huge fan of Messi and Barcelona regularly posting high praise for the player and the team on her twitter account.

Morgan is not the only player joining Messi on the various covers set for release globally.  The other players joining Messi are: Liverpool FC’s Jordan Henderson the Matildas Stephanie Catley, C.D. Guadalajara’s Marco Fabián, Antoine Griezmann from Atlético Madrid, Chelsea FC’s Juan Cuadrado, and Borussia Dortmund Shinji Kagawa.
