Ajax will get a new look on January 1, 2015 when Ziggo becomes the new main jersey sponsor for the club’s first team.  The Netherlands national cable and media company takes over mid-season from Aegon, who signed with Ajax in 2007 extended their deal for only 6 months in March to allow the club to find a new sponsor.

The 41/2 year deal will pay the Amsterdam club a guaranteed $9.9 million with a maximum of $2.5 million in potential bonus payments per year.  Aegon is reported to have paid between $12.5 and $15 million for the jersey sponsorship.

“The opportunity to become Ajax’s new shirt sponsor seldom arises,” Ziggo CEO said. “Ziggo, as a new national cable- and media company, now has the ability to present itself in unique way, thanks to this partnership. It’s a logical choice for both parties. We are very excited about this cooperation.”

The deal still allows Ajax to find another sponsor for their youth team, women’s teams, and amateur sides.
