Adidas have released their first Messi boot of 2015. The Pibe de Barr10 pays homage to Messi’s roots playing on the streets of Las Heras in his hometown Rosario, and his journey to becoming one of the greatest players of all time.
The phrase ‘Pibe de Barrio’ translates as ‘kid of the neighbourhood’, and adidas have replaced the final two letters of Barrio with the number 10, the number that Messi wears for both club and country.
The boot has a base colour of white, with black, grey and red featuring heavily throughout.
The back half of the boot has a unique graphic pattern, inspired by the graffiti murals that can be found around Rosario.
The graffiti pattern runs from the heel halfway down the boot, including the tongue and the laces. It is also present inside the boot, with Pibe de Barr10 in white text.
The upper of the boot is made with adidas HybridTouch, and a new stud pattern on the outsole sees just three studs in the heel area.
This new stud configuration is designed to provide better traction of firm ground surfaces.
We’re looking forward to Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Manchester City to see if Messi debuts his new boots.
