The cleat world’s rumor mill is buzzing after Vincent Kompany took to the field in a blacked out pair of adidas Ace cleats against Newcastle on Tuesday night.
Kompany is sponsored by New Balance after signing with the U.S. based company 3-years ago when the cleats were under the ‘Warrior’ brand. He has had injury troubles the last few months and is working back to full fitness.
As recently as 10 days ago, the Belgian international was wearing his regular New Balance cleats so it is unclear whether he is positioning for a better deal, considering making the switch to adidas, or only temporarily wearing the 3-Stripes while continuing to heal from a calf injury.
