The adidas Ace16+ PureControl is taking a step into the unknown as the first on-pitch cleat from the 3-Stripes to be reinvented as an off-field lifestyle shoe.
“We know a footballer’s life doesn’t end when he leaves the pitch,” Sam Handy, adidas Soccer Vice President of Design said at the launch. “The ACE 16+ PURECONTROL UltraBOOST takes the best upper from adidas Soccer, the best craftsmanship from adidas Running, and brings it together for the first time.”
The Ace16+ PureControl UltrBOOST has a Primeknit upper and BOOST technology in the outsole to serve as a leader off the field. The shoe is available (although adidas sold out almost immediately) in solar yellow and black.
adidas is planning on making more future soccer products available in off-field inspired alternative.
What do you think of the new off-field look from adidas? Do you like it? Is it a move in the right direction for the 3-Stripes?
