The Centenario trophy was made to highlight the importance of this year’s tournament and stand out from the regular Copa America trophy which is silver with a wooden base that includes plates with the winning team and year. The trophy was donated to CONMEBOL by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina in 1916.
The team that wins the trophy will hold it in perpetuity adding even more prestige to this event.
